Trippy 101

Welcome to Trippy 101 your go-to guide for everything Cannabis at Trippy Treats. Here, we break down the science, safety, and dosing so you can sip, savor, and soar responsibly.

What is Cannabis?

At its most basic level, cannabis is a type of plant. You might have heard it called by many different names—like marijuana, weed, pot, or hemp—but they all come from the same plant family.

When people talk about the different "species" or types of cannabis, they are usually referring to three main varieties: sativa, indica, & ruderalis. Each has their own look and behave quite differently.

Because growers have been mixing these plants for decades, almost everything on the market is a hybrid—a genetic blend of sativa and indica designed to give people specific combinations of flavors and effects.

  • Sativa

Tall with thin leaves. Typically provides an energizing, uplifting "head high." This is also the botanical family that produces the hemp used to source extracts for infused edibles and ice creams.

  • Indica

Short, bushy, and stocky with wide leaves. Usually provides a deeply relaxing, calming "body high."

  • Ruderalis

Small, rugged, and naturally very low in THC. It flowers automatically based on age, making it highly valuable to growers for crossbreeding.

Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are the naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. They interact directly with the human body's endocannabinoid system, a complex network of receptors that helps regulate functions like sleep, mood, appetite, and memory.

While the cannabis plant produces over 100 different cannabinoids, a few key ones are most researched and widely used. Here is a breakdown of the two major ones: THC & CBD.

THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol)

This is the most famous cannabinoid and the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. It is responsible for the intoxicating "high" people experience. It is often used recreationally, as well as medically to stimulate appetite and reduce nausea

CBD (Cannabidiol)

The second most well-known compound. It is completely non-intoxicating, meaning it will not get you high. It is widely praised in wellness circles for its potential to help manage anxiety, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain

Since the majority of our Trippy Treats lineup is THC-infused, we believe in going beyond the label. Understanding the "how" and "why" behind your experience is the best way to ensure every session is a good one.

THC Quick Guide

Understanding the Molecule: Delta-9 THC

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive compound found in cannabis. When you consume a Trippy Treat, the THC interacts with your body's Endocannabinoid System (ECS), specifically binding to CB1 receptors in the brain.

The "High" vs. The Relief

While many seek the euphoric "head high," THC is also responsible for:

  • Physical Relaxation: Helping to ease muscle tension.
  • Appetite Stimulation: Often referred to as "the munchies."
  • Sensory Enhancement: Making music, food, and art feel more vivid.

Dosage and Timing

The golden rule at Trippy Treats is "Start Low, Go Slow." Because digestion takes time, you may not feel the effects for 45 to 90 minutes.

  • Microdose (2.5mg - 5mg): Subtle relaxation, great for social settings.
  • Standard Dose (10mg - 15mg): Stronger physical effects and noticeable euphoria.
  • High Dose (20mg+): Recommended only for experienced users with a high tolerance.

Safety & Responsibility

Because THC affects everyone differently based on metabolism, body weight, and tolerance, we always recommend enjoying our products in a comfortable environment. Keep hydrated, and remember that you can always eat more, but you can’t eat less!

What is THC?

THC is short for a long scientific word: delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. It is a natural chemical found in cannabis plants, which includes both marijuana and hemp. Out of all the different chemicals (cannabinoids) inside these plants, THC is usually the one found in the largest amounts.

THC is the psychoactive chemical compound in cannabis that creates the high. It affects thinking, memory, pleasure, physical movement, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception.

The Different "Versions" of THC (Isomers)

THC exists in different isomeric forms (or isomers).

You can think of isomers like a set of building blocks. If you take the exact same blocks, you can connect them in slightly different ways to build different shapes. In chemistry, THC has the same basic "blocks," but they can be arranged into a few slightly different versions.

While Delta-9 THC is the most common and famous version, the plant can produce other THC variations that are just arranged a bit differently, including:

  • Delta-8-THC
  • Delta-3-THC
  • Delta-7-THC
  • Exo-THC
  • Delta-10-THC

Delta-9 THC is the main psychoactive cannabinoid in hemp and cannabis plants, responsible for producing most of the ‘high’ effect after marijuana consumption.

Here at Trippy Treats, when we say “THC,” we mean Δ9-THC the form that delivers the classic euphoric “high.”

Simplified Breakdown of Florida's THC Laws

In Florida, THC is legal, but the rules depend entirely on which type of plant the THC comes from: hemp or marijuana. Florida law separates them into two distinct categories with different limits.

A Quick Note About Our Products: Here at Trippy Treats, we keep things simple and fully compliant. We only use hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, ensuring everything we make fits perfectly within these legal guidelines!

  • THC from Hemp (Legal for the General Public)

If the THC is extracted from an industrial hemp plant, it is legal for regular consumers to buy.

The Rule: Under Section 581.217, it states that these hemp products are strictly limited in how strong they can be. They cannot contain more than 0.3% THC.

  • THC from Marijuana (Medical Patients Only)

If the THC comes from a marijuana plant, the rules are much stricter. It is not available to the general public.

The Rule: Under Section 381.986, marijuana-derived THC is strictly reserved for registered medical marijuana patients. These patients have access to more varieties, including smokable products, provided the THC levels in those specific products are capped at 0.8%.
